UnitedHealthcare provides contraceptive coverage benefits that include at least one form of contraception in each of the methods (currently 18) that the FDA has identified in its current Birth Control Guide. Fertility Solutions guides members through the fertility landscape to align the right treatment at the right time. UnitedHealthcare provides education and counseling through individualized case management, utilization management and access to a high-quality Fertility Centers of Excellence (COE) network. This program delivers superior outcomes, lower treatment costs and faster times to pregnancy. The physical and emotional toll of fertility treatment may be overwhelming to employees, resulting in stress that can make it difficult to make optimal treatment decisions. Fertility Solutions offers comprehensive support to employees throughout the treatment process.

Infertility: A disease (an interruption, cessation, or disorder of body functions, systems, or organs) of the reproductive tract which prevents the conception of a child or the ability to carry a pregnancy to delivery. It is defined by the failure to achieve a successful pregnancy after 12 months or more of unprotected intercourse or artificial insemination for individuals under age 35. Earlier evaluation and treatment for those individuals actively looking to achieve a conception may be justified based on medical history and diagnostic testing and is warranted after six (6) months for individuals aged 35 years or older.
